Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasizes the Necessity of the Preserving of the Historical Truth during the Evaluation of the Great Patriotic War
"I am glad that there is an opportunity to meet veterans, glad to observe the constellation of heroes, spearhead force, who achieved the Victory", - V. Lytvyn declared during the meeting with Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Heroes of the Soviet Union on Friday in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and expressed hope that today´s meeting would facilitate the organization of the 65th anniversary of Victory.
V. Lytvyn is convinced that the celebration "should reflect Your feat of arms special because of the fact that the historic past is often changed today". He dispraised rewriting of history due to the political and personal interests. V. Lytvyn stressed: "There are speculations, there is intention to impose personal evaluation, their own heroes, alter the memory of people, war lessons are not taken into the consideration, and there is no unity in the society". "On should not let it. Until the memory is alive, history is alive and the people is alive", - he emphasized.
Victory Day and memory about years of war "should remain in such a way that you did overcome", - V. Lytvyn mentioned addressing veterans. "Of course, new documents, new statistics appear, still, new facts do not lessen the courage and heroism of the Soviet soldier", - he announced.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada is convinced that 9th of May "it is not only Victory Day with tears in eyes but also the opportunity to have sincere and principal talk, evaluating the part, and thinking about tomorrow".
Commenting the conclusion of the meeting, V. Lytvyn declared that veterans "are totally against the imposing ideologies, the demand that the truth should be as they protect their Motherland". "I and convinced that it is their right that this truth should be remained as veterans remember and evaluate it. The memory about perished people should be a stimulus in such a case", he announced.

In meeting took part Heroes of the Soviet Union: Maksym Grynenko, Maria Dolina, Ivan Ivashyna, Lyudmyla Kravets, Mykhailo Levin, Ivan Lytvynenko, Volodymyr Polupanov, Ivam Selifanov, Ivan Solomonov and also Pavlo Naumov, Mykola Martynov (Chairman of the Kyiv City Veteran Council Organization), Vasyl Kon´kov (Chairman of the Commission on Former Partisan of Greta Patriotic War 1941-1945 in the V erkhovna Rada of Ukraine), Volodymyr Artamonov (Hero of Socialistic Labour), Yuriy Shylovtsev (Chairman of the Center on History of Great Patriotic War 1941-1945 protection), Volodymyr Zhukovskiy.
